Diocese of Chicago
The first part of each meeting is dedicated to reading and reflection on that Sunday’s Gospel selection. By listening to the reading three times from different translations and sharing our personal reflections, we deepen our faith and challenge one another to grow.
The second part is focused on a segment from “Living the Questions”. This open-minded series of readings, videos and study guides strives to create an environment where participants interact with each other to explore what’s next for Christianity.
Four questions have come to form the heart of our time together each Sunday: What is the character of our God? What is the content of your faith? What is the function of your Church? What is the purpose of your worship?
All are welcome! facilitator: Karen Paul
A fellowship and support group for same gender loving men across the Chicagoland area. Men of various congregations gather to discuss issues facing the gay community. This group also sponsors events such as the Open Community Movie Night. See our Events page for current activities.
BMT is a discussion and support group of same gender loving men, at least 25 years of age, who meet monthly at St. Martin’s, usually on the last Friday of the month (except November and December). BMT begins with a shared meal followed by media presentations centering around the lives of black gay men or other marginalized populations. For the first year, the group viewed Noah’s ARC seasons 1 and 2 together, for entertainment and discussion on related themes. Occasionally men will share their own writings. The group ends with stories, experiences, testimonies and struggles from their own lives.
BMT Elders is an additional monthly gathering of SGL leaders who are members of St. Martin’s, active in congregational life, at least 35 years of age. The focus is on leadership and development of BMT activities, as well as mentoring of younger SGL men.
Rev. Christopher Griffin is the facilitator for BMT. For more information, contact him at chris61griffin AT yahoo.com
